Sarah – Sebringville Athletic Association

Sarah's Day at the SAA Family Fun Day

Meet to the Sebringville Athletic Association! We’re a team of volunteers running the Sebringville Community Centre, baseball diamonds, and playground. We bring people together through Sebringville Sting Softball teams, family dances, kids’ craft mornings, holiday bingo nights and much more!

As a registered charity, The SAA relies on hall rentals, donations, and fundraising to keep things running. Sarah and her family joined the SAA last year to give back and support our community.

The SAA’s Family Fun Day took place on Saturday, August 24th, to celebrate the end of the baseball season with activities like a bouncy castle, carnival games, pie-your-coach, and a BBQ. Ball players enjoyed a free meal and giveaways from local businesses, like Tradition.

Sarah volunteered her time on Friday, August 23 and Saturday, August 24. On the Friday, volunteers set up the hall, collected silent auction items, prizes for the children & food for the BBQ. On the Saturday, she volunteered her time, but also attended as a parent!

We’re always looking for volunteers of all ages to help with events or join our Board. Whether you can help out at one event or get more involved, we’d love to have you on board!

Nikki & Patricia – The Local

Nikki Powers

Nikki's Day at The Local

Nikki Powers, an agent here with Tradition has chosen to donate to The Local Community Food Centre. She chose this organization because it is a place where they’re creating access to good food to everyone, judgement free. The Local not only brings access to food to those in need, they also have food skills programs tailored for children, caregivers, seniors, and those who live alone.

The Local Community Food Centre continues to make a significant impact by bringing meals to our community and connecting people together with good food and good company. They have community access markets twice a week which offers fresh local fruits, vegetables, meats, and pantry items all at wholesale prices with a Pay if Forward program.

Nikki spent her volunteer day cleaning, organizing, and preparing pamphlets, in preparation for their Annual General Meeting and open house on July 24th. Our community is fortunate enough to have these important and needed services offered by The Local. Their mission needs our community support and could always use more volunteers who generously give their time and hard work.

To find out more about volunteering or donating visit The Local’s website: https://thelocalcfc.org/

Patricia's Day at The Local

The Local Community Centre provides nutritious meals, fresh produce, and more to community members in need. They also welcome the entire community to join in.

Patricia selected The Local because she believes in the importance of good food and helping those in need. She spent her day preparing for The Local’s Annual General Meeting. Patricia and other volunteers cleaned around the building, as well as inside. They also helped to organize the handouts that attendees would receive.

Patricia’s experience as a Rotarian in the City of Stratford has shown her how appreciative organizations such as The Local are of any volunteer assistance.

"It is important to give back."

Lauren – Out of the Ashes

Lauren's Day at Out of the Ashes

Out of the Ashes is a large animal rescue right on the edge of Sebringville, Ontario with an array of rescued horses, cattle, buffalo, llamas and more. Their primary mission is to rescue neglected, abused, or abandoned horses, providing them with proper care, rehabilitation and a soft landing for the rest of their life.

Lauren’s day started with general barn chores such as feeding and watering the animals. She had the chance to meet all of the animals and hear their stories while they did this. Together with the barn manager, they mucked the stalls and pens for horses who are unable to be in the main field due to health issues.

In the afternoon, Lauren also assisted with photography, capturing updated pictures of a majority of the animals. These photos serve multiple purposes: documenting medical progress, attracting potential donors through social media and promotional materials, and creating a visual record of the rescue’s work.

Animal rescues rely heavily on volunteers and Lauren had the chance to meet three of them. Volunteering at the rescue was a fulfilling experience that combined physical work with the chance to contribute in her own way.

Chuck – Minto Fire Safe Kids Day

Chuck's day with Minto Fire

Minto Fire Safe Kids Day is an annual event dedicated to educating children about fire safety.

Minto Fire – Safe Kids Day, received a significant boost this year thanks to a generous donation from Tradition Mutual Insurance Company. This contribution underscores the community’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its youngest members ranging from Grade 3 – 6 from local school. Enhancing Educational Outreach.

The donation was used to enhance various aspects of the event, allowing organizers to expand their outreach and offer more comprehensive educational activities. These activities include interactive demonstrations by fire safety professionals, hands-on training sessions for children on how to respond in case of a fire, and the distribution of educational materials that children can take home to share with their families.

The Minto Fire Safe Kids Day plays a crucial role in the community by equipping children with the knowledge and skills they need to stay safe in case of a fire emergency & other potential emergencies.

With the support from Tradition Mutual Insurance Company, this year’s event was able to reach more children and provide them with an even richer learning experience. Their donation was not only able help in making the event more impactful but also inspire other members of the community to contribute to this important cause. The organizers are excited about the possibilities this donation opens up and are looking forward to implementing new and improved activities that will leave a lasting impact on the children.
