The Rotary Hospice of Stratford Perth is a space for “care for those who can’t or don’t want to live their last days at home. Support for those who choose to stay at home”
Steph and Nat spent their day assembling simmer-pot gift bags, which will be available by donation at the Hospice’s upcoming dramatic reading of “A Christmas Carol” on December 7th in Stratford. This event serves as an important fundraiser in support of the Rotary Hospice.
Halfway through their volunteer day, they were given a tour of the facility by Lucie, the Director of Fund Development and Stewardship. They had the opportunity to see the family spaces, resident rooms, kitchen area, and the donor walls that helped support the Hospice’s work.
“There was a call for volunteers at our last town hall meeting, and I felt it was an important way to contribute. While my dad was not at the Rotary Hospice, he spent his final days in hospice care this past July. The peace my mom and I felt during that time, thanks to the care and compassion of the hospice staff, made it an easy decision to support a facility like this. The support provided not just for my dad but also for my mom and me was deeply needed and appreciated. During the tour, hearing from Lucie about all the intentional touches they add to make the Hospice feel like home was incredible, especially when so many care environments can feel clinical and impersonal.”

” Prior to my volunteer opportunity at the Rotary Hospice of Stratford Perth I only had a high-level understanding of what they do and how they support our community. During this opportunity, I was fortunate enough to have a tour of their facility and hear from the employees/volunteers about all of the different ways they support the residents, their families, and friends. It was amazing to see how dedicated they are to providing an excellent experience to their residents, and this was made evident in the thoughtfulness that was used when designing the facility and the services they provide. It is very clear that they strive to meet their organizational vision of making every moment matter for the residents in their care, and I am happy that I was able to support this through my donation.”
