How much home insurance do I need?
Much of the insurance you need depends on the replacement cost of the home, that is how much it would cost to rebuild the home in a total loss. Luckily for you, our agents have tools to help calculate this value.
Another factor to consider is the value of contents in the home. We often calculate this amount based on a percentage of the home value, however, if you have a high amount of expensive contents, like technology, you may consider either increasing the value of your contents or adding a personal contents floater.
Why do I need liability on both my home and auto insurance?
Liability simply is coverage against losses arising from injury or damage to another person or their property.
In terms of liability on your auto policy, it covers liability that occurs from the use of a vehicle. For example, you cause an injury to another in a car accident.
On your home insurance, the liability portion covers your property and any loss to another on or due to use of that property. For example if someone slips and falls on your front porch.
How can I lower my premium?
Tradition offers many discounts that you may be eligible for:
How should I insure my valuable possessions?
You residential insurance does cover your valuable possessions, however, it may be for a special limit. A special limit is a stated amount in your policy wordings that outlines what we may pay on a loss for certain items. If you possession is more valuable than that limit than we suggest putting that item on a floater. The floater will allow you insure the item to it’s value.
Why does my premium increase every year?
Due to inflation, the value of your home increases every year, your premium is adjusted to ensure that it is still being insured to value.
As the market changes, the price of materials and cost to rebuild your home may increase.
