Frequently Asked Questions
Does my policy cover someone else who drives my car?
As long as you give permission for that person to drive your vehicle, in most instances that person is covered under your policy.
I‘m renting a vehicle while away, does my insurance cover that or should I get the rental company’s package?
If you have purchased the endorsement OPCF 27, Tradition would cover physical damage to the rented vehicle and liability you may face. This endorsement is a replacement instead of the rental company’s insurance package. This endorsement costs around$40, it can be put on just before you rent or it can be left on.
My car is getting repaired, do I get a replacement vehicle?
A replacement vehicle is not automatic. You can purchase an endorsement (OPCF 20) which will cover the cost of alternative transportation while your vehicle is being repaired. The cause of the repairs must be from a incident in which you are insured against and only up to the limit that was purchased.
I get medical benefits at work, why should I buy accident benefits on my policy?
Since automobile insurance is mandatory in Ontario, it aims to provide the insurance needs to as many people as possible. This is why there are certain coverages that are required, like the standard accident benefits. These benefits are available to not only the owner of the vehicle but to the passengers and pedestrians, in the case of an accident, that may not have insurance of their own.
There is an option to increase the amounts for more information check out our brochure here!
What are factors that impact my premium?
- Driver age
- driver gender
- Marital status
- Number of years licensed
- Number of years loyal to Tradition
- Minor Convictions
- Vehicle (year, type, engine, body style)
- Payment frequency
Why is my teenager listed as a primary driver?
If there are more vehicles listed than drivers listed on the policy or if the number of vehicles matches the number of drivers we then are required to list every driver as a primary driver at least once.
So, for example, if you and your partner had three vehicles, one of you would be listed as a primary driver for two of the vehicles. Once your teenager is listed as a driver, each of you would have to be listed as a primary driver. Three vehicles, three drivers listed means three primary drivers.
